As the school year kicks off, faculty and staff are gearing up to support our University of Northern Colorado (UNC) students. Faculty and staff support students every day through their roles at UNC, but some choose to go above and beyond by donating their time, 专业知识和资金. A popular method of giving is through payroll deductions, which make it easy to support the various areas in need across campus. 在UNC, there are seemingly endless causes to support depending on a donor’s passions and aspirations. In recognition of National Workforce 发展 month, we have taken a deep dive into just a few of the donor-funded causes that UNC faculty and staff support. All are welcome to support these vital scholarships and services (and many alumni employers offer matches for employee donations!).

April is National Volunteer Month and UNC is is grateful to the many volunteers who supported student success this academic year.

The UNC Scholarship application provides a centralized avenue for students to raise their hands and receive gifts from UNC’s generous donors. 反过来, student thank-you notes demonstrate the power of donors in building up scholarships and building up future college graduates.

As UNC continues to respond to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, UNC donors form the generous and sometimes unseen community committed to helping students remain enrolled and on track to complete their education.

The Reisher Family Scholarship and McNair Scholars program provide the support and preparation for UNC recent graduate and first-generation college student Brandon Selz ’20 to pursue graduate education and a career that makes a difference.

As a first-generation student, UNC’s support systems meant a lot to Jenaya McGowan Zarrad ’08. The Greeley native came to UNC from Aims Community College and found a degree and a community that made a difference in her education.

Receiving a scholarship can mean the difference between completing or quitting the pursuit of an education. In 2019, 25 students were surprised to learn that they would receive an $8000 scholarship toward the continuation their UNC education, a gift inspired by an act of generosity that occurred 60 prior.

Thanks to both the generosity of donors and the hard work of MCB staff member Melissa Hoffman, UNC’s Professional Attire Closet is providing students with free professional clothing to help them approach interviews, networking events and presentations with confidence.
